Historic Georgetown Preparatory School, founded in 1789, is an independent, Jesuit, college preparatory boarding and day school for young men in grades 9-12. Founded by Archbishop John Carroll, S.J., Prep is America's oldest boarding and day school for young men and is the only Jesuit boarding school in the US. Sponsored by the Society of Jesus, Prep is one of 46 Jesuit high schools and 28 colleges and universities in the United States. Jesuit schools are infused with a 5 century-old tradition and philosophy of education laid down by the society's founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola. Georgetown Prep draws students from 22 states and 25 countries, providing a uniquely diverse education environment for our students. Located on approximately 95 acres in suburban North Bethesda, Maryland, the school enjoys the cultural and historic resources of the metropolitan Washington D.C. area. Georgetown Prep is located just 6 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., conveniently located next to the Grosvenor Station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro subway system and easily accessible from the Capital Beltway. Students are just minutes away from the Capitol, Congress, the Smithsonian, and other facilities in downtown Washington.
